The Brief

PESA is an Oil and Gas Industry Association for professionals working in the field. Their main business driver for their new website was to provide a Membership Management platform for their ~2000 members.

In addition, their extensive PESA Journal and PESA News publications needed to be stored online and provided to logged-in members to download and read. All membership management functions including annualised renewals needed to be handled by the website with the site being managed by PESA staff.

The Solution

WordPress was the platform of choice, with it's extensive backend management options and broad plugin base providing much of the needed basic functions. Extensive custom development was undertaken to match their membership renewals to their anniversary date, along with extended profile information for each member.

An extensive Events Management system was installed with customisations to sell tickets through WooCommerce. Additional customisation was undertaken to implement a Delegate system to allow Secretaries to make bulk bookings on behalf of specified Members, as well as to collect dietary requirements and other attendee data.

Lastly, all existing members purchase histories and current membership status needed to be imported from a legacy system without interuption or downtime. This proved a challenge but this was achieved across the anniversary date of renewal of January 1st.

The Outcome

All functions were able to be met through the WordPress Development phase and PESA continues to develop the site through retaining Red Fez on our Junior Team Member program. We have been able to recover them from a virus and hacking incident as well as continue to maintain the core and plugins up to date.
